INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
ABSTRACTS OF FREE PAPERS
44th ANNUAL ACADEMIC SESSIONS
15, 16, & 17 September 2011
The Ceylon College of Physicians invites applications for free papers in the following categories, to be presented during the 44rh Annual Academic Sessions, scheduled for 15th – 17th September 2011 in Colombo.
FREE PAPER CATEGORIES:
- Oral presentations
- Poster presentations
INSTRUCTIONS:
-The text of the abstract should not exceed 250 words. Please type with double-spacing on A4 paper, with 1” margins on all 4 sides. Please use font type Times New Roman size 11.
-The abstract should follow the following structure whenever possible: TITLE, OBJECTIVES, METHODS, RESULTS and CONCLUSIONS.
-Please send 5 copies of the abstract. The original and FOUR clear photocopies are acceptable. Please indicate the names of the authors and the place/s where the work was carried out only in the original copy.
-Please submit the abstract also on a CD in addition to the hard copies.
-A photocopy of the ethical clearance obtained for the study, where applicable, must also be sent with the application.
-Please also fill the application form for free papers, which is sent herewith.
-The deadline and send for receipt of applications (abstracts, photocopy of ethical clearance and duly completed application form) is 3.00 pm on Thursday 30th June 2011.
-The Ceylon College of Physicians reserves the right to allocate selected free papers to either oral presentations or poster presentations.
-The corresponding author of each successful paper provisionally selected will be informed during the month of August 2011. Applicants who accept the offer must register for the 44th Annual Academic Sessions before the paper is finally accepted by the College. All authors of the paper must be registered for the Sessions before final acceptance. The deadline for finalization of registration and acceptance is 31st August 2011.
-Only successful corresponding authors will be notified.
-Each oral presentation will be allowed 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. A multimedia projector with a computer will be available for oral presentations.
-Poster presentations should be 1m (width) by 1.5m (height).
