The College consists of the following categories of members

  • Members
  • Fellows
  • Honorary Members
  • Honorary Fellows
  • Associate Member

ELIGIBILITY TO ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP
All Ordinary Members should be citizens of Sri Lanka. The following qualifications shall be eligible for membership :

A registered medical practitioner who holds a degree of MD of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, Sri Lanka in General Medicine or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Council.

A registered medical practitioner who holds a degree of MD of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, Sri Lanka in a related field of medicine such as Paediatrics, Pathology, Psychiatry, Microbiology, Radiology, Dermatology, Haematology or any other field of medicine that is accepted by the Council of the College

The Council of the College shall consider each application individually and decide on suitability for membership

 

ADMISSION TO FELLOWSHIP

The Council may from time to time elect Members of the College of at least 10 years standing as Fellows of the College in recognition of distinguished service to the profession. Their names have to be proposed and seconded by two Fellows of the College.

The Council may from time to time elect Members of the College who do not satisfy 10 year requirement as stipulated in 6.1, as Fellows of the College for outstanding contribution to College or the profession. Their names have to be proposed and seconded by two Fellows of the College

Once elected, the Fellowship shall be conferred only when the applicant has paid the stipulated fees

 


ADMISSION TO HONORARY MEMBERSHIP AND HONORARY FELLOWSHIP

The Council may from time to time admit distinguished persons as Honorary Members or Honorary Fellows of the College in recognition of their exceptional services to medicine.

Honorary Members and Honorary Fellows shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the College

 


ADMISSION TO ASSOCIATE  MEMBERSHIP

The following qualifications shall be eligible for Associate membership.

A primary medical degree recognised by the Sri Lanka Medical Council and successful in the Selection Examination in Medicine and registered with the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine for MD (Medicine).

Application supported by Director, PGIM and Trainer who should be a Member of the College or a Member of the College of at least 5 years standing.

The Council of the College shall consider each application individually and decide on suitability for Associate Membership.

Associate Members shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the College
Any other applicant with an equivalent qualification approved by the Council

 

Fees

- The fees payable by ordinary members shall be Rs. 1000/= per annum

- Life membership fee is Rs. 5000/=

- The fee payble by Fellows shall be Rs. 15000/= on admission

- Associate membership fee is Rs 2500/=

- Members who are in default of membership fee for a period of two years shall loose their   privilage of membership

- Life membership, the membership fees for life membership may be paid in twoequal installments within a period of two years.Membership will be effective from the date of election as determined by the council and shall be terminated if payment is not completed in the required timeperiod. No refunds will be entertained in any eventuality.
